‘KIFARU’ (Audience Award for Best Feature, Full Frame 2019) is a feature documentary film with exclusive access that follows the lives of two young, Kenyan recruits that join Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s rhino caretaker unit – a small group of rangers that care for and protect Sudan, the last male northern white rhino or kifaru in Swahili. Spanning over the course of the caretakers first four years on the job, ‘Kifaru’ allows viewers to experience the joys and pitfalls of conservation firsthand through the lens of these men and view extinction in real-time.

David is an Emmy nominated cinematographer & award-winning commercial + documentary filmmaker based in the US. He began filming ‘Kifaru’ in 2014.

‘Kifaru’ is David’s first feature-length documentary film as an emerging director. He is supported by Southern Documentary Fund, a non-profit banner of film industry professionals championing filmmakers across the American South to tell stories of local & global impact.
